We are unique for a number of reasons . . .

     1. THE DIRECTORS

The TrailRidge Directors, David and Kim Broshar, are hands-on directors. David leads every trip, and Kim supports the trips with strategic planning and fulfilling what we call the "mother function" (teeth brushed? clean socks? sunscreen applied liberally? enough to eat?) We are both teachers (Kim, 5th grade at Carolina Day School, David, 8th grade at Carolina Day School) who have been in summer camping for a combined 45 years, working as instructors, cabin counselors, program directors, directors, and owners. We have extensive experience in wilderness adventure and worked for four years in New England as environmental educators. You don't have to worry that a young, inexperienced high school or college student may be caring for your child at TrailRidge. Kim and David are parents of two children themselves and fully understand the responsibility of caring for parents' most precious possessions: their children.

     2. WORLD'S SMALLEST CAMP

TrailRidge lays claim to being the "world's smallest camp !" Our enrollment is a fraction of what other camps maintain, enabling us to provide an emphasis on personal attention. At TrailRidge, no one gets "lost in the crowd!"

     3. FLEXIBILITY

Our sessions are measured in days, not weeks or months. While our trips are packed tight with adventure, they still fit conveniently into your busy summer schedule.

     4. CAMPER PARTICIPATION

The kids particpate actively in all aspects of our trips, from preparing meals to running activities. It is a unique opportunity for your child to learn to work with bunkmates and to gain some group living skills while having a great time.

     5. PARENT PARTICIPATION

Parents can be involved in TrailRidge.We take along a few parents as chaperones, and this has been a wonderful opportunity for parents to spend quality time with their children while enjoying the great outdoors. How many camps offer that?
